Samsung announces Galaxy S III coming to 5 major US carriers starting in June samsung galaxy s3 release 650x286

Samsung has announced that the highly anticipated Galaxy S3 will be available on all major phone carriers in the US. This means most customers in North America should be able to get their hands on Samsung’s newest Android flagship. Starting in June, the Samsung Galaxy SIII will be available at AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular. The release schedule has not been published; according to Samsung we’ll know in the coming weeks.

An excerpt from the press release:

“The U.S. launch of the Galaxy S III is the most anticipated launch of the year. As promised, we are delivering the ‘next big thing’ for U.S. customers and across all major carriers,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Telecommunications America. “Galaxy S III introduces new technological innovation and takes sharing to the next level.”

With the Galaxy S III, Samsung is setting a new standard for smartphones. This device was designed to be lightweight, durable and powerful. The Galaxy S III weighs 4.7 ounces and is 8.6 millimeters thin, making it lighter and sleeker than other leading smartphones, including several competitor models with smaller displays. The brilliant 4.8 inch display extends to an ultra-thin bezel to maximize the viewing area. The Galaxy S III delivers impressive processing power to allow more applications to be accessible simultaneously.

I don’t think the specs of the SGS3 are what will wow many customers. It will be the heavy marketing and the fact that the Galaxy S2 did so well in past years. And with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM, this device will deliver.

Stay tuned for more coverage on the Samsung Galaxy SIII.

Save battery Lumia 900 Nokia

With a 1830mAh battery, the Nokia Lumia 900 already has one of the longest charges for phones with a 4.3-inch screen. I can get about 8-10 hours with heavy usage, 4G, and a constant data connection for email and other notifications. But on the latter half of those hours I usually watch the battery closely, especially if I know I won’t be near a charger. This article presents some tips, both new and old, to help save battery life on your Nokia Lumia device.

In fact — I despised it. But after seeing these product shots recently published by Nokia, I’m beginning to change my mind. Reminder: Check out these Nokia 808 PureView camera samples and photos. Have a look at these photos and below them I’ve posted a “making of” video that Nokia created about the 808 PureView — and created filmed with the 808 PureView. Nokia 808 PureView Photos

Nokia 808 PureView coming to US retailers unlocked, most likely with a warranty

Could it be true… Nokia’s 41-megapixel camera might be coming to US shores — with a 1 year Nokia warranty? It seems to be looking that way. According to Chris Weber, President of Nokia in the US, the Finnish giant is looking to make the Nokia 808 PureView available in the coming months. Quotes from Chris Weber at CTIA last week were published at PCMag.com. According to the article… “In the meantime, U.S. phone buffs will soon be able to get hold of the PureView 808, Nokia’s 41-megapixel camera phone. While the phone won’t be picked up by a U.S. carrier, it’ll be AT&T-compatible and sold unlocked here, according to Weber. “We’ll figure out a way to make that available in the U.S. in the next couple of months,” he .....

Photos: Nokia Lumia 900 vs. Galaxy Nexus

The Nokia Lumia 900 and the Galaxy Nexus for Verizon. These are two top phones on the largest carriers in the US. Both feature 4G LTE data speeds and both have the latest versions of their operating systems. I have both in my possession right now; and while the Lumia 900 feels better in-hand, the Galaxy Nexus is thinner and lighter. Price not a factor… In terms of price, there is no difference. Amazon, which has the lowest prices you’ll find in the US, has deals on the Nokia Lumia 900 (here) and the Galaxy Nexus (here) for $49 with a 2-year contract. Let’s take a look at the full gallery of photos. Let me know in the comments at the end of the article if you have any questions about either device. .....

Galaxy Note owners beginning to receive Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich right now

It’s an Ice Cream Sandwich kind of month. We recently had Android 4.0 hit two Acer tablets. Today, one of my Twitter pals, @blue13x, alerted his followers of an ICS notification on his Galaxy Note. And now I’m seeing widespread reports that the latest version of Android is indeed landing on the Galaxy Note all over the world. Have a look at Devin Balentina’s tweet: Just got the notification that ICS foe the Galaxy Note is here! twitter.com/blue13x/status… — Devin Balentina (@blue13x) May 10, 2012   Devin is currently located in the Netherlands. No word on it ICS hitting the AT&T Galaxy Note just yet. As you can see the update size is 318 megabytes, so you’d be smart to update over WiFi. What’s new for Ice Cream Sandwich? Well .....

Acer Iconia A100 owners reporting Ice Cream Sandwich now available

by Mike Macias 05.09.2012
ICS A500 Android Acer

We reported a few weeks ago that Acer Iconia tablet owners should be getting ICS any time now. Well it turns out Android 4.0 is hitting everyone’s tablet! I got the update on my A500 last week, and now Acer Iconia A100 owners across the world should be seeing the update. It wasn’t such a smooth update for Acer. It took awhile for ICS to hit once they announced it would be available. Users have been reporting it available for a few weeks, while others are just getting it today. Either way, it’s good to see the latest version of Android arrive on this tablet. I must admit… Android 4.0 has done wonders for my Acer Iconia A500. I was ready to give it up and sell it, but now .....

Nokia Lumia exclusive apps, major titles for Windows Phone, Angry Birds Space announced

by Mike Macias 05.08.2012
Angry Birds Space for Windows Phone

At all the recent consumer shows in the US it seems Nokia is trying to make a splash, and this week is no different. Today at CTIA Wireless in New Orleans, Nokia announced a handful of apps for Windows Phone that will initially be exclusive to the Lumia series lineup. This will surely anger Windows Phone users who don’t have a Lumia 900 or 710, and maybe convince them that Nokia is the company to buy from if you like the Windows Phone operating system. Samsung, LG, and HTC are focusing most of their dollars and attention to Android, so you can’t expect the same type of exclusivity from them. Also announced were some updates and new apps that will be available to all Windows Phone users. According to Marco Argenti, SVP, Nokia .....
