
Not much is changing at the top of the smartphone market share numbers. Android still dominates and iPhone market share is slipping. It’s the bottom that has shifted a bit. In Quarter 1 of 2013, according to IDC, Windows Phone has officially surpassed Blackberry as the number 3 spot in this competitive race.

In terms of gains, Windows Phone has more than doubled its shipment volume from a year ago, reaching 7% up from 3%. Android is still leading the pack thanks to Samsung, who sells 41.1% of all Androids sold. No other Android manufacturer is in double-digits — an intriguing stat that needs more attention.
