IDC: Android & iPhone combine for 92% smartphone market share, Windows Phone jumps to 3rd idc logo

Not much is changing at the top of the smartphone market share numbers. Android still dominates and iPhone market share is  slipping. It’s the bottom that has shifted a bit. In Quarter 1 of 2013, according to IDC, Windows Phone has officially surpassed Blackberry as the number 3 spot in this competitive race.

In terms of gains, Windows Phone has more than doubled its shipment volume from a year ago, reaching 7% up from 3%. Android is still leading the pack thanks to Samsung, who sells 41.1% of all Androids sold.
