AT&T announces Xperia Play 4G September 18th for $49.99

On Sept 18th AT&T will launch its first PlayStation-certified handset, the Sony Xperia Play 4G. The Xperia Play 4G is a Android handset with dedicated gaming controls and due to its PlayStation-certified credentials the handset will be able to take advantage of a special library of games which include Sony’s PlayStation back catalogue and games created by 3rd parties strictly for the Xperia Play. The device will come pre-loaded with seven games and include a Sony Ericsson Multimedia Dock DK300 and  MC100 music cable.

The Xperia Play 4G will be available in “stealth blue” on Sept 18th for $49.99 on a two-year contract.

  • Runs on the Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) platform
  • 4” 480 x 854 screen, up to 60 frames per second graphics, stereo speakers

    The funny thing is, this is the exact same Xperia Play available in the rest of the world where everyone knows it’s a 3G phone, but just because AT&T’s selling it they call it a 4G phone.
