Kindle Fire firmware update

The Kindle Fire by Amazon hasn’t even been out for a month and we’re already talking about a firmware update. Depending on the way you look at it this could be bad news or good news. Good news because it shows Amazon wants to stay on top of things and make sure the Fire is running at its best possible performance. Bad because it’s so soon and it could point to some serious flaws, as mentioned in many reviews.

New tools available for the Amazon Kindle: Sticky Notes and Converter

Smartphones are not the only things with apps nowadays. Oh no… the simple, read-only Amazon Kindle has a few tools besides a web browser that can make the device more useful. The Kindle is an interesting device in a sense that it’s not just for tech geeks like myself. Many Kindle users don’t own a smartphone and might find some standard smartphone applications useful on their Kindle. I’m still unsure on whether or not Kindle apps are necessary but understand the point that many non-tech folks might enjoy the simplicity they bring. Amazon Kindle hits software version 3.1. How to update manually

A few weeks ago my wife’s Amazon Kindle (latest generation) got some new software. I finally got around to updating it tonight and boy was it a breeze. Or at least as easy as it can possibly get without having an over-the-air option. Normally the Kindle will update itself when you perform a sync but for some reason this one didn’t update on its own. I followed the official Amazon Kindle software update instructions but I’d also like to give you these instructions with my personal experience thrown in. Again – this guide is only if your Kindle didn’t update automatically.

I got my wife the Amazon Kindle 3 for Christmas this year and she absolutely loves it so far. It’s the perfect device for book lovers and a great replacement for magazines and newspapers. She’s already subscribed to a few magazines and downloaded the newest book in the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series. I’ve spend a little bit of time with it and love the simplicity and how everything ‘just works’. Save my thoughts on it for another article. Today I was happy to hear the news that you can now lend your purchased books to another Kindle user.
