Nokia N9: How to add favorite contacts to app menu shortcuts

One of the biggest issues I had with the Nokia N9 was the lack of contact shortcuts. Since the N9 doesn’t have a standard homescreen setup like Symbian and Android, there was really no place in the OS to put favorite contacts besides at the top of the contacts app. I’ve suggested to Nokia that they allow favorite contacts within the quick launcher that pops up when you slide from the button for 2 seconds, but it never happened. Luckily a developer has created another solution that lets you add a favorite contact shortcut to the menu like it’s an app icon. I’ve seen Symbian users all over the web looking for a way to sync their Nokia N8 with Google Calendar and Contacts. One way to do it is using the N8’s email application and Mail for Exchange, as Dennis from WAP Review pointed out in a tutorial. While that method works very well for most users, some need the N8’s single Mail for Exchange email profile for another account. If you’re syncing your work email that uses Exchange you won’t be able to sync Google services. It’s a Symbian limitation that really needs to be fixed, but for now we’re left trying to find a workaround. I needed a way to sync my Google Calendar not using Mail for Exchange. Keep reading to see my solution.

Send SMS Via Bluetooth From PC

Oh, and multimedia messages too! Have you ever thought to yourself how awesome it would be to have your phone in the other room and still send/receive sms & mms messages directly from your PC? How about check your phone’s calendar & contacts, even modify all the entries without any wires using your computer’s full size keyboard? This is all possible with most Nokia smartphones and the PC software that comes with it. I’ve been doing it for years with my Nokia E71 and most recently my N97 using Nokia PC Suite. That is not to be mistaken with Nokia Ovi Suite. See – Ovi Suite has this functionality but only while connected via usb cable – not bluetooth. This is one of the main reasons I continue using Nokia .....
