Last week Google released an official Gmail app for iOS devices. This app is a great alternative to the built-in email application that is installed on the Apple iPhone and iPad, especially for heavy Gmail users. It was first announced many weeks back, but had a severe bug and had to be pulled from the App Store. iOS users, today is the day! Apple has launched its brand new iOS 5 with over 200+ new features and is available for iPod, iPhone, and the iPad. With some of the main improvements and additions being: Notifications Center iMessage (allowing communication between iOS devices without the need for a messaging plan. System is based on a data or internet connection) Improvement of the lock screen which shows more information (missed calls, texts, etc) Newsstand – A portal that organizes all publications in one location Reminders Twitter (heavy integration with iOS) Camera has been improved with ability to shoot directly from lock screen, enables the volume up to become a physical shutter button, gridlines.
