Photos: Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs. Nokia Lumia 800

We’re back with another side by side phone comparison! This time we have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Nokia Lumia 800. This may seem like an odd pair to compare, but my followers on Twitter are fanatical about phones and mentioned they’d love to see these photos. Before we get started, I’d first like to mention the screen size difference. The Galaxy Nexus has a 4.65-inch screen, and the Lumia 800 checks in at 3.7-inches. This is why you’ll see such a big difference in the overall size of the phones. Availability Galaxy Nexus for Verizon is available at Amazon.com for $99. The Nokia Lumia 800 is available for $499 at Amazon (US unlocked) or free at Carphone Warehouse (Europe w/ contract). Now for the photos! Enjoy the gallery .....

Best Deal: Galaxy Note for AT&T debuts at Amazon for $249

by Mike Macias 02.19.2012
Galaxy Note Best Price

The highly anticipated Galaxy Note for AT&T is now available at a handful of phone retailers in the US. You can pick it up from AT&T directly for $299, but the best deal on the Galaxy Note we’ve found right now is from Amazon for $249 with free shipping. In terms of Galaxy Note colors, both the carbon blue and the white are available. What makes the Galaxy Note so special?  The biggest thing in my opinion, literally and figuratively, is the screen. The Galaxy Note features a 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 800 resolution that will leave your jaw dropped open for awhile. This makes it the largest screen for a phone on the AT&T network. It runs Android 2.3, but it’s said to be upgraded .....

Big price for a big phone: Samsung Galaxy Note available on Feb. 19th for $299.99; AT&T taking preorders

The Samsung Galaxy Note has a massive 5.3-inch and impressive 1280×800 resolution. This appeals to many Android users looking for a near-tablet experience, while the average phone user might find it too big. Available on February 19th for $299.99, the Samsung Galaxy Note instantly becomes a standout device in the AT&T lineup. Impatient customers can preorder the device right now at att.com or inside retail stores. Galaxy Note Too Big? A 5.3-inch screen with a high-resolution display would look beautiful, but how nice would it be to use with one hand or trying to get it out of your pocket while wearing jeans that fit properly. Some people prefer a phone this big, especially people with large hands. For me, with average size hands, I wouldn’t be able to get .....

Samsung announces the Galaxy S Advance for world markets

Today, Samsung Electronics unleashed the Galaxy S Advance smartphone. It ships with Android Gingerbread and features the TouchWiz UI created be Samsung. I’d consider this a middle to high-end Android phone with a 4-inch Super AMOLED curved display, a 5-megapixel camera, powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. Initially the Samsung Galaxy S Advance will be available in Russia this February, eventually reaching Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin American, and China. No word on North American availability, and that’s a good thing considering how saturated the Android market is here.

Photo Gallery: Nokia Lumia 900 vs. Samsung Galaxy S2 side by side

Nokia Lumia 900 vs. Samsung Galaxy S2

This week at CES I was able to get my hands on the newly announced Nokia Lumia 900 and compare it to the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch that I’m currently reviewing. It’s a great comparison considering both of these devices are at the higher-end of the smartphone spectrum. The Galaxy S2 has a 4.5-inch AMOLED screen and the Lumia 900 has 4.3-inch AMOLED screen. In terms of thickness the Galaxy is .38-inches and the Lumia 900 is .45-inches (max). I say max because the back of the 900 is rounded off so it starts off thinner and in the middle hits its thickest point. So the design specs are similar, although the insides are much different. But this article is to showcase the external hardware, not the .....

Hands-on Photos: Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch for Sprint

by Mike Macias 01.02.2012
The 8 megapixel camera takes great photos as long as the lighting is good

Last week I got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G. It’s a Sprint phone – actually right now it’s the top Sprint phone that runs Android. The best deal on the SGS2 that I’ve found is below $100 at Amazon.com, this device is selling extremely well and is hugely popular in the Android community. Despite a fresh lineup of Android phones in the pipeline, the Galaxy S2 has the power and design to be a top device in 2012. To kick off this Galaxy S2 review, I’ll leave you with some nice hands-on photos of the phone. In the coming days I’ll have plenty more to say about it and even more hands-on photos comparing it to other top devices.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Over-the-air updates will be rolling out soon for Nexus S owners to get Android 4.0 (ice cream sandwich). If you’re one of the impatient ones and can’t wait, you’re in luck. Phil Nickinson from Android Central has posted a guide to manually update your Nexus S to ice cream sandwich. The steps are very simple and easy to follow. Keep in mind this is for the GSM T-Mobile version. Other Nexus S versions won’t work properly with these files. Use that method at your own risk!
