Hands-on Photos: Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch for Sprint

by Mike Macias 01.02.2012
The 8 megapixel camera takes great photos as long as the lighting is good

Last week I got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G. It’s a Sprint phone – actually right now it’s the top Sprint phone that runs Android. The best deal on the SGS2 that I’ve found is below $100 at Amazon.com, this device is selling extremely well and is hugely popular in the Android community. Despite a fresh lineup of Android phones in the pipeline, the Galaxy S2 has the power and design to be a top device in 2012. To kick off this Galaxy S2 review, I’ll leave you with some nice hands-on photos of the phone. In the coming days I’ll have plenty more to say about it and even more hands-on photos comparing it to other top devices.

Leaked press image shows Samsung Galaxy S2 coming to T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T

Thumbnail image for Leaked press image shows Samsung Galaxy S2 coming to T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T

It seems top devices aren’t so exclusive to specific carriers anymore. The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S II is rumored to be coming to US shores and sold through Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T. This is huge for Samsung if it’s true and I think Sprint customers will be ecstatic. This comes after news a few days ago of the iPhone 5 landing on Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon at initial launch. The S2 might be re-branded/renamed for each carrier or just the USA. We’ve yet to get confirmation on all of this but the folks at Pocket Now usually are pretty trustworthy. Samsung has an event scheduled for Monday morning on the east coast where I’m sure we’ll hear all about the Galaxy S2 and it’s shipping details in the US. .....

Report: iPhone 5 coming to Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T this fall

It seems every week a new development in the mobile industry dominates tech news headlines. Today the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple will release the iPhone 5 on 3 major US carriers in mid-October. AT&T, Verizon, and surprise player Sprint are on the list to carry the iPhone 5. It comes as a surprise to me that Sprint is included right off the bat but I see it as a good thing for the entire industry. This news comes just after Reuters reported this morning that the iPhone 5 will be available by the end of September.

Sprint to launch more than 10 Motorola devices this year, 5 Androids

by Mike Macias 06.09.2011
Thumbnail image for Sprint to launch more than 10 Motorola devices this year, 5 Androids

Sprint and Motorola are partnering up to bring 10 new devices to the market this year. At least half of the devices will be powered by Android and one of them is the XOOM tablet. This is obviously huge for both parties but really shows how serious Motorola is about getting back into the mobile spotlight. With AT&T buying T-Mobile (almost certain) and Verizon launching the iPhone, it’s time for Sprint to get aggressive. They have a fast 4G network that seems to be coming along nicely and a phone portfolio that is featuring the latest technology.

Sprint offers free phone and voice minutes to low-income families through Assurance Wireless

by Mike Macias 06.08.2011
Thumbnail image for Sprint offers free phone and voice minutes to low-income families through Assurance Wireless

Assurance Wireless, a pre-paid brand of Sprint, offers a free phone and 250 minutes monthly to income-eligible families in the United States. Some states will not be eligible so be sure to double check. Programs like this are crucial to families that have been affected by the current economic woes the world is facing. With down times crime is also up. Cheap phone plans like this might serve to help criminal organizations or street gangs communicate. I’m not sure if this is a government subsidized program or not but I’m curious to know if police have easier access to Assurance Wireless customer phone records than companies that don’t offer free phones and service. What comes with the Assurance Wireless free plan? 250 voice minutes each month A phone Call waiting .....
