We’ve been talking a lot about the Nokia Lumia 900 lately here at Mobile Fanatics. Last week we put the Lumia 900 head to head in photos against the Lumia 800 and Samsung Galaxy S2. The Lumia 900 is making waves right now because it’s the first Windows Phone coming to AT&T that has a Nokia logo at the top of it. One of most popular questions I’ve seen from people interested in the Nokia Lumia series is about Wifi tethering. Is it possible?
Vance Kim, the Product Marketing Manager for the Nokia Lumia 900, sat down with a small group of bloggers that Nokia invited to CES and talked to us about their newly announced device. He went through many topics including battery, design, camera flash placement, and availability. I was able to ask him about tethering and here was his response:
Good to hear! In case you couldn’t watch the video, here’s the gist of it.
- Nokia Lumia 900 will have WiFi Hotspot capability
- Up to five devices can be tethered
- You need a special AT&T data plan. Details on that were not disclosed
I also asked him off camera if T-Mobile will be offering WiFi hotspot capabilities and he wasn’t sure. Same goes for the Lumia 800.
I’ve added the full video interview with Vance if you have the time to watch it (13 minutes). It has some really good information and might help with your purchase decision.
Thanks to Vance Kim for his time and the Nokia Connects team for setting us up with this interview.
The Nokia Lumia 900 is coming to AT&T in March.
