LG G2X hands-on preview and photos

This week has started off with a plethora of releases from T-Mobile USA with the release of the Sidekick 4G, LG G2X, and the LG G-Slate. Luckily, I was able to get my hands on the LG G2X aka Optimus2x, the first Tegra2 powered device to hit the market. While the device is locked and I still have yet to test its various features I though Id give some first impressions of the device after fondling it for a couple hours.

The overall feel of the device is great with the handset feeling sturdy and well weighted. The front is formed with one piece of glass that has a unique curved edge design that slopes downwards on both sides. The back has a nice soft touch feel that provides great grip and the single piece is well molded against the camera lens housed in the back. While the LCD is clear, crisp, and vivid I did notice that the top right and left corners have a yellowish tint (the left being more noticeable). Without a doubt this is probably one of the fastest devices I have used. The games load relatively quickly (compared to my Vibrant / Galaxy S) and the speed at which it can process downloads is impressive. While I have experienced a couple force closes I’ll have to report on the frequency when I get to fully experience the device. For now I’ll leave you with a set of photos.

G2X is one of the fastest devices you’ve used? That’s impressive. Which version of Android does this thing run? How much would I have to pay to get one? T-Mobile is really tempting me here.

It runs Android 2.2 and its 500+ tax :P As of right now Im gettting an unlock code for ATT use. I heard from others that even though its unlocked ATT 3G is still not working.

That’s a huge bummer if you can’t get the ATT 3G to work with it. How much is the G2X subsidized?

I see prices ranging from 149-199.

I almost wish this thing was running the new version of WP7 with the updates Microsoft announced last week. I’m sure they’ll come out with something similar.

Im eager to see what the new generation of WP7/8 devices will be like
