This past weekend I was in Las Vegas for a trip dubbed Nokia Unfenced (#NokiaUnfenced hashtag on Twitter). I was one of many other mobile fanatics that were invited and got a chance to check out the Nokia Astound. But this wasn’t your normal “lets go to the strip and lose our money and get wasted” Vegas trip.
No… we were in the middle of nowhere on Saturday in the scorching hot desert with some cowboys! Horseback riding, all-terrain vehicles, a campfire, and the Nokia Astound were all part of the activities. This was my first time riding a horse and I have to say I didn’t do too bad. Apache treated me well, unlike some of the other horses. We visited a gold mine from the 1800′s that should probably be closed forever. It was an amazing experience put on by the WomWorld/Nokia team.
What was the coolest thing?
WE GOT TO TORTURE PHONES!
Before I show you all the photos and festivities from the weekend take a look at this video I shot of Nokia Astound being dropped from way up high. Also in the video is the HTC HD7 and Samsung Galaxy S. I was amazed at how well all of the devices did with this kind of torture. These phones sure are built like tanks nowadays. Watch…
First was the Nokia Astound. Second was the Samsung Galaxy S. And last was the HTC HD7. Video was shot by the Nokia N8.

Apologies for the shaky hand. The ground was uneven and the wind was howling! We did even worse torture later that night with the same phones from about 3 times higher. I didn’t get any video of it because I was too busy stuffing my face with pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad. But surely someone got the video. I’ll let you guys know when I find it.
And now for the photos. There are tons of them! Nearly everyone invited – actually no -EVERYONE had a cameraphone and snapped a bunch of photos. I uploaded mine to a Flickr set. All photos taken by the Nokia N8. I handpicked my favorite photos so I can give you a description …
Clicking the photos will take you to Flickr.
If you made it this far down the page that means you enjoyed the photo. Check out my Flickr set for 60 more!
Thanks @WomWorldNokia for the trip and it was great meeting all the new faces!
