Nokia Lumia 900 official — available on AT&T in ‘the coming months’

by Mike Macias on January 9, 2012 · 4 comments

Nokia Lumia 900 official available on AT&T in the coming months nokia 900 cyan 600x600Just a few minutes ago here at CES, Nokia announced their news Windows Phone coming to AT&T sometime this Spring. The Nokia Lumia 900 for AT&T will be 4G LTE capable and is powered by a GHz processor. The Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) operating system runs very fast with a GHz processor so speed won’t be an issue. I’ve had my hands on the Nokia Lumia 710 for the past 24 hours and I’m surprised at how fast things run on the same processor found in the Lumia 900. Let’s take a look at some more detailed specs of this newly announced device, starting with the camera.

If you’ve followed me, @mikemacias,  for awhile you’d know that I’m a huge fan of awesome of phones with great cameras. I need it to take a good picture and I need it done fast. The device should have great sharing capabilities as well so I”m not left fumbling around with 3rd party apps. Here’s how the Nokia Lumia 900 camera specs shake down:

Nokia Lumia 900 camera details

  • 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics
  • F2.2 large apeture
  • Wide angle focal length (28mm)
  • Front facing camera (also features a large aperture and wide angle lens

I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one tomorrow hopefully so I can show you guys some photo samples.

More Lumia 900 specs

  • 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack Display
  • 4G LTE capable for the AT&T network
  • 1830 mAH battery
  • Turn by turn directions with Nokia Drive
  • Exlusive ESPN sports hub pre-loaded onto preloaded
  • Pentaband for use around the world

The battery size and 4G speeds both impress me. Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices for AT&T, had this to say about this topic:

“Nokia and AT&T worked hand in hand to bring the Nokia Lumia 900 to market. Our powerful 4G
network really amplifies the benefits of the Nokia Lumia 900. Sharing high quality images and videos
with its integrated social networking functions is faster than ever; content from U-verse Mobile is
more enjoyable on the crisp 4.3-inch screen, and with its huge battery people can do more without
worrying about recharging.”

I’m happy to see Nokia paying attention to battery life as it’s definitely an area that other manufacturers have neglected in recent years.

Nokia Lumia 900 colors

The Nokia Lumia 900 will be available in black and cyan colors at launch. There might be more colors available in the future, but at this point we just need to get this thing shipping.

Speaking of shipping. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have an official release date. All we know is we can expect it sometime in Spring during Q1. Nokia has made promises lately to ship things quickly after they’re announced, so I hope to see the Nokia Lumia 900 available no later than mid-March. Anything later and I’ll be extremely let down.

Before I ramble on more about my personal thoughts on this device, I’d like to hear your initial thoughts.
