Yesterday I wrote up a quick rant about how bad Twitter and Microsoft (they help with the app) screwed up the notifications in their big Windows Phone update that was released last week. I was just minutes away from publishing the article late last night, but fell asleep and decided to wait until the morning. And here we are today.
Before I launch my computer every morning I usually first check my phone for emails and app updates. Low and behold, I see an update for Twitter in the Windows Phone Store. With no mention of fixes or changes in the description, I performed the update and hoped the best.
BINGO! The notifications are fixed.
The Windows Phone Twitter app now works great on my Nokia Lumia 920. Lock screen notifications, toasts, and the live tile are all working great. What was the problem? I pinpointed it to the small live tile causing the problems before the app was updated today.
When I used the medium and large tiles the notifications worked great. Then I switched to the small tile, which is my favorite tile to use for Twitter, and the app stopped notifying me.
As you can see, the small live tile works. The toasts at the top of the screen works. The icon with number of tweets on the lock screen (bottom right) works. Nice job developers! I’m glad that the issue was fixed within a week and now I’m happy with the app.
Stay tuned for my WP8 Twitter app review coming up and be sure to follow me on Twitter (@mikemacias) where I can help you test things out!
