Ovi Suite becomes Nokia Suite and includes some updates

Starting earlier this year, Nokia has slowly eliminated Ovi branding from their portfolio – and one of the last things to go is Ovi Suite. Nokia Beta Labs have published Nokia Suite, a computer program that interacts with most of their smartphones. If you use it correctly it will greatly enhance your overall experience.

Nokia Suite has the same layout as Ovi Suite, just gets a new face-lift. It uses Nokia’s new blue color scheme and rounded icons (squarcle?).

Some new features and updates have been added to Nokia Suite. Check them out below…

New items in Nokia Suite 3.2 compared to Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1:

  • Nokia Ovi Suite is now called Nokia Suite
  • The application has a refreshed look and feel
  • The new Support view offers info and help with using Nokia Suite and your phone
  • The Support view helps make sure you have enough free space on your phone
  • The improved sync log shows you what has changed during syncing
  • Software updates for your phone software and phone applications run now more reliably
  • You might also notice, that Nokia Suite doesn’t anymore run MPlatform.exe process – we’ve removed that from our architecture. You’ll MPlatform.exe still running, if you have Nokia Ovi Player installed into same PC
  • Of course, new Nokia Suite 3.2 contains lots more new stuff, huge amount of different errors have been corrected and also many crash issues have been resolvedOvi Suite becomes Nokia Suite and includes some updates Nokia Suite 3.2

I’ve tested out this new program for a bit and it runs a lot faster than Ovi Suite. I’ll do some more testing this week and report back.

Nokia N9 compatible? Right now I have the Nokia N9 and unfortunately it’s not compatible with Nokia (or Ovi) Suite. Use Nokia Link to sync N9 photos, music, and videos with your PC or Apple computer.

Hey buddy! Do you have any questions about it or anything in specific that you’d like me to cover?

I am sure you are going to cover the gestures, but I’d like to see a video about them just so that I can compare them to my X7 which is running GoToMenu.

I basically have the same gestures enabled on Anna and would like to see how it compares with the original Meego gestures.

I am particularly interested on battery life and camera. Will you be doing a N8 vs n9 camera?

And also how well social app integration is. Especially facebook. I heard it’s just like Nokia Social, which sucks.

Where did you get your N9? Pre-ordered?

I’m also looking forward to N9 review. Hopefully a brief direct comparison to the N8 which I currently own.

did you have some post-processing on that picture? it looks great. or did you just alter some camera settings before taking the shot?

It’s just cropped, and I think I tweaked the brightness a bit after. But the original photo is below and you’ll notice there isn’t much difference: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikemacias/6244468165/in/photostream

I’m using this and others for an upcoming sgs2 vs. n9 camera comparison. We have the same exact shot taken with the galaxy s2.
