Nokia Symbian Belle Hands-On Preview

Update: Belle for Nokia E7, N8, C7, E6, now official. Click here to learn more.

While some of us still struggle to get the Symbian Anna update on our Nokia devices (N8, E7, C7, C6), it seems as though Nokia has released new devices over the pond that come with Nokia’s next generation OS, Symbian Belle. For those not familiar with this update it takes the OS into a whole new direction bringing it closer into competition with iOS and Android. It’s easy to see why this update breathes new life into Nokia handsets “borrowing” elements from its competitors OS’. We can only hope that Belle will receive an official release for older handsets (N8, E7, C7, C6) soon. For those daring enough the leaked version is currently circulating on the internet and available for download. Check out the video for the details and preview.

Interesting development. I might recruit @MajorDouble7:disqus and have him place an order for the mexican #N9 for me.

    What wather widget is that??

Oops I mean weather widget.   Which one is it?

That weather widget comes preloaded with Symbian Belle.

  • Topher Mori

Will that be available in the final release because i don’t see it in any of the leaked versions.

There is a lot in the leaked version that isn’t in the version being demoed, I have noticed. Leaked only has three homescreens, and the web browser UI is much different. Also, not all the preloaded widgets (no large/small clock, weather, Bookmark, CNN, etc) so the leaked was probably one of the earliest versions of Belle… even so, it is way better than stock S^3

thats because we don’t have the final release in the leaked version.

My version of #Belle has the small analog clock but is missing the other widgets you mentioned.

Yes, it will be available in the final release, as shown in the Belle video demonstrated by a Nokia employee.

That makes me feel better, because I noticed when my phone is idle, it takes a little bit to load the next homescreen, like it dumps the memory after a while, so keeping up with 6 homescreens, I thought the current S^3 devices may not be able to do so.
