The Mobile Fanatics Toss Up – Episode 1 Podcast CTAP small thumb

As we promised you earlier this week, we’re coming at you with the first episode of The Mobile Fanatics Toss Up and the first thing you should know about it is “It’s not a podcast.” Hit the jump to find out what I mean by that and to listen to our smooth soulful voices.

Instead of offering you the typical mobile news podcast where we sit down and talk about the past week in mobile news, we want our listeners to be involved in the conversation. We want to know what you want to hear us talk about, we want to know what matters to YOU! All of you so let us hear about it. Leave a comment below letting us know what you want to hear discussed next week (Also, don’t forget to tell us what you think of this episode), email us at podcast@themobilefanatics.com or hit us up on Twitter (listen for our Twitter names at the end of the podcast if you don’t already have them).

Just before we get into the episode, I want to send out a couple of Thank You’s. First, special thanks to Burd & Keyz (R.I.P Anthony ‘Durty Keyz’ James) who laced us with the incredible theme music for this show. Second thank you goes out to our special guest for the first episode of ‘TMF Toss Up’, Amir B (@benjezzy). If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that Amir has been a regular contributor to N97Fanatics.com as well as MaemoFanatics.com and he was delighted to be asked to join us in recording the inaugural episode and didn’t even complain that the invitation came at the last minute. Look out for more of Amir’s work hitting The Mobile Fanatics very soon.

But without further ado:

Topics of discussion in Episode 001

  • Windows Phone 7, its impact and its “freshness”
  • T-Mobile G2, what’s the fuss about?
  • Symbian^3. 50 million sold…and then some
  • Why everyone thinks Nokia should use <insert OS here> on their phones instead of Symbian/MeeGo and why Simon will eat a shoe if they do
  • Blackberry PlayBook and Smartphone OS ≠ Tablet OS

I’d like to hear opinions on Ovi Maps. Is it better than Google? Why is the N900 behind and lacking turn by turn?

I would like you guys to break down each of the top operating systems, give the pluses and minuses what do you as individuals prefer and why, and the burning conclusion is there 1 clear cut winner and why??

Good topic for Ovi vs. Google Maps. We all know the answer to your second question.

dude. we would need 24+ hours to discuss which is the top operating system. but i do like the idea – maybe a “rapid fire” style rather than a full blow discussion.

O ye of little faith Mike. Don’t worry Lenny, we’ll tackle this topic in the next episode and it won’t take us 24 hrs
